These days, a lot of courses are conducting multiple choice examinations. These questions usually cover a large number of realistic data and information and require a student to select a correct answer among a set  of options provided for the same question. Rather than asking a student to produce a correct answer entirely from his or her side, options are provided that includes three or four wrong answers.

Most of the students consider this kind of examination easier as compared to other exams as they know that one out of several answers is surely going to be correct. If they choose the right answer they are going to score full marks. The other reasons that make this kind of examination easier are as follows:

  • Guess work can work here and student can score good marks on the basis of guessing a correct answer

  • There is no need of analyzing things or giving detailed explanations

  • As there are many questions, each of them has a lower point value and hence there is lesser risk of loosing more marks

Although, multiple choice exams seem easier to give, there are many factors that make them complicated as well, such as:

  • As there are so many questions, a student has to prepare by referring broader range of materials.

  • Students have to familiar with specific details like date, name, place, etc.

  • So many choices can be confusing sometimes and students may end up selecting the wrong answer that looks like a right answer for them.

So, if you are attempting for a multiple choice exam, you need to prepare yourself thoroughly in order to score good marks.

Before the exam:

  • Multiple choice questions are usually based on specific details hence you have to study in advance. A last moment study can not be fruitful as one can not memorized a large number of details in a very short span of time.

  • Practice solving some multiple choice question papers within a specified period of time. This will improve your knowledge as well as speed.

  • It is necessary to be prepared emotionally, physically and well as mentally. Take a full night rest before appearing for the test. A fresh mind will be able to think fast and right.

  • Arrive at the exam center few minutes earlier than the examination time with all the necessary things.

During the exam:

  • When you get your question paper, check it once to make sure that your copy doesn’t have any missing or duplicate pages.

  • Read all the directions carefully.

  • Fill all the necessary details and information require on the answer sheet.

  • Plan your time and accordingly finish answering the questions.

  • Read all the questions and its responses carefully.

  • Firstly, attempt those questions of which you know the answers. It will help you to save your time and you can give more time to the harder questions.

  • Avoid guessing the answers if you are getting penalized for wrong answer.

  • Keep some time to review your answers.

After finishing:

  • After finishing all your questions, check all your answers carefully before submitting your answer sheet.

  • Don’t be afraid to change your answer if upon rechecking, it seems wrong to you.

So, these are some of the important tips that can definitely help you in preparing yourself when appearing for a multiple choice examination.
